Spike might not get much notice in Canterlot. But in the Crystal Empire, he’s everyone’s hero. Though Princess Cadance might think he’s getting a little too playful.
Don’t worry, Cadance. Your subjects really love Spike – and Spike really loves them. And their love makes the Empire stronger than ever! Spike is just giving his little friends a little adventure, and giving you a friendly reminder that he’s the power behind your throne. Even if something does go wrong, it will be fixed by the next episode!

Our savior Spike has decided to reward us with a trip between his godly toes. Soon i shall jump from the empire to touch his toes porper, and give them the worship they deserve as i will live between his toes until the day i pass.

For Cadance, I guess it feels like being overthrown. But Spike would never do that. He’s happy just to know that he’s the power behind the throne.

All of Spike’s fans are precious little creatures to him – and their city is just as precious a gem. He wants them to feel safe and warm – and to know that if his power momentarily goes to his head, then it’s a lighthearted cartoon with little lasting damage. He gets his power from the Crystal Heart, and the love between him and his fans is what makes it all possible.

I thought so, too. The artist really nailed it!
It’s like, she doesn’t know if she should be terrified or not. Spike is one of the kindest and most sensitive characters, but he seems kind of conceited here. But he means no harm. He just loves to get the attention he feels he deserves. Spike just wants his friends to appreciate how much he cares … and having them at his mercy is the perfect opportunity!
