Original description:
A long time after we were done designing the mane 5, we had to design the mane 6 as if it was 3D like, in the same style as the New Generation movie. That was for a flashback segment that was scrapped I believe.
I was in charge of designing Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle ! 😁

I’m alright with G4 being used to set the stage for G5 but I’d be much more interested in treading new ground instead of constantly calling back to the old series. It’d come across as a crutch to not come up with new material or nostalgia bait, at least in the way I’m thinking of it.

I also hope that the mane 6 will return in the future and I would be so curious to see characters like Celestia and Luna looks like in this style.
We can just wait and hope!

I’ve seen some people speculate that during the G5 show, we could see the Mane Six again in flashbacks. The fact that Imalou said that this was for a flashback segment that got scrapped, it could be possible that it could happen in the show.
