There’s nothing inherently wrong with Mary Sues or Gary Stus, especially if you’re going for a power fantasy or wish fulfillment type of thing. But when trying to tell an engaging story, an immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and/or talented-at-everything kind of character shouldn’t be the sole/main focus of your story (which would make them not a Mary Sue), unless that’s how they end up and not how they begin.
