I do not care if they were reformed or not. The problem is the heroes did not offer any help to them. Was it really that hard for the writers to make Twilight Sparkle walk up to the trio and offer her hoof after their defeat and then make the trio refuse her?

It’s the final season, that’s one thing. The other thing is that given the way they almost set it up, the ONLY villain that shouldn’t reform is Grogar. And since he wasn’t real, it created so many problems after that. Like are there THAT many bad people out there? Because i think if I have to give an estimate, I think it’s only 20% of the entire population. Besides Twilight’s utopia in The Last Problem seem far from it if let’s say someone does agree that friendship is magic and yet in a stubborn, misguided attempt will try to free the trio. Will it be in vain? Or is it worth fighting for? I mean if Sunny wanted to, she could easily give up on her dream and let her society be that way for the next century.

To be fair that WAS kind of the moral of the finale. That friendship will prevail over the darkness even when all hope is lost as long as everyone bands together to put a stop to it. Because the only reason why the villains won is because the magic of friendship was lost and no one trusted each other for a while. It wasn’t until they were reminded of unity is when they were able to triumph over evil. So with that in mind the moral isn’t lost and is still there it’s just not going the “everyone is friends now” kind of ending that lets face it would be kind of a bad moral to teach because a LOT of bad people simply don’t want to change even if it’s as clear as day that they’re wrong or sometimes they’re even proud of being terrible people for some insane reason. And I think it’s clear that the three baddies here are suppose to be those kind of people

Maybe the show writers were tired of literally everyone complaining about “too many reformed villains” constantly and ignoring the nuances in said reformations, so they just kind of went back to just “defeating the bad guy” route that they’ve done in seasons 2 3 and 4. And to be fair they did show them almost had a change of heart earlier in the season and actively reject it deeming friendship as some type of “disease” in Chrysalis’s own words with the other two agreeing. I think the heroes trying to reach out just for them to reject it again would be redundant and it was already kind of made clear that they had no intention of making a turn around even after defeated, especially Chrysalis (whom btw Starlight tried to reach out to her way back in season 6 because of her own experience paralleling Chrysalis’s to an extent and she literally smacked her hoof away). Maybe Cozy Glow and Tirek could be a special case but they have a habit of manipulating others to act like they mean well just to backstab at the end every single time. The only reason they didn’t do it to each other is because not backstabbing each other was the only way to get what they want. I dunno I think the show made it very clear that these three are beyond saving without bashing you over the head with it

I do kind of find it odd that after so much complaining and even shit talking the show over reforming villains so often, people still take an complain even when the writers finally take that to heart and do the opposite. It’s like do y’all want villains to reform in this world or not?

WOW that was a wall of text, but I’m just trying to add a different perspective on this whole thing and show that there was thought put into the whole “chucking the villains” choice

I can understand the direction the show probably wanted to go, showing that there are simply people who don’t receive a happy ending in life because of their actions, but they way they handled it just came nothing short of a criminal execution

At best, they should’ve been petrified in action rather than after the fact they were already depowered and at the Princess’s mercy.

Instead we more or less got Celestia saying, “F*ck it, we’re not dealing with this”

It is a show literally teaching morals about love and friendship. Yet the finale decided to throw it out of the window. Of course people are mad about it.
Terminator was originally a dramatic horror series but recently it got turned into a family comedy series. Of course fans are mad about that.

If you open a shop claiming to sell chocolate in it then do not be surprised when people will complain about you are actually selling vanilla instead.

If that long speech will help solve problems then let it be. Need I add the sisters has been going Star Swirl’s old, traditional ways for 1000 years and look what it brought them, no peace. So they and by extension you guys need to hear a lot. If you want, you can go and ignore Twilight’s speech and be the same terrible person everyone else is. Especially those on Twitter who thinks they’re god.

Right, the massive dialogue dump aside, this is still a fairly decent speech. It’s far more convincing than most of what has been presented thus far.

That being said, I can’t help but think that if you cut out 95% or so of the nonsense that occurred between when Twilight came back and now, this would’ve worked far better. Have the sisters be openly displeased, sure, but still hear Twilight out without her needing to Canterlot Voice them down.

Random off topic, never brought this up or really thought about it but the artstyle makes everyone look so squishy reminds me of clay, its interesting

Yeah, gotta agree on this one. Not the kind of comic I would enjoy where a character has way too many dialogue boxes. Kinda like when a movie has an exposition dump. Also Celestia and Luna act so out of character it kinda throws everything off. I mean everyone has their headcanon and I have problems with the finale too, but we should probably not act like we can do any better.

Hey, I’m chilling with whatever over here.

I love seeing bronies take the show so seriously, three years later, just because the ending didn’t follow their personal feelings. Like the writers weren’t obligated to follow the personal whims of one individual’s outlook on the world. I mean, this guy clearly realized that his Twilight’s rant was heavy handed and off base two pages ago and is doing damage control.

It’s adorably sad.

I agree actually. There’s a big potential that it’ll go wrong especially with the rather emotional artist fillbuster on the page 6 and 7. Im actually glad that it ended up good after all.

Felt bit of a damage control, for me atleast. Nevertheless it turns out far better than what I had felt back then.
