Yeah, true, that’s definitely more realistic than my take 😆 It could be a mix of both too, maybe. Like when Sprout is young he just wants to be a sheriff because his mommy makes it sound cool, yet when he grows older he’s more attracted to the power associated with being a sheriff.
He was a child. When you ask a kid what they want to be when they grow up, they used to say things like astronaut, rock star, etc. They don’t understand what it means to be one. They just think its cool. Sprout wanted to be sheriff because he thought it was cool.
That could be possible. He did seem to only want to join law enforcement when he was a kid because of Phyllis. “Don’t worry Mommy! When I become sheriff, I’ll keep everypony in line.”
Heck, judging by that quote, maybe Sprout only wanted the power that came from being a sheriff, and didn’t care about anything else.
I guess he’s not happy and he thinks being sheriff will make him happy so he puts on an act. I wonder what his true calling in life is.
