One of my favorite movies is 1987’s “The Brave Little Toaster,” even though it scared me as a little kid in 1996. The whole movie is, in a way, a big existential crisis (and seeking meaning even through it, to find purpose after “abandonment”) that was originally meant for 18 year olds, but it got marketed to kids in the 90s.
My point being, maybe we’re in more agreement than it seemed. Or maybe I still don’t get it.

I know tone communicates extremely poorly on the Internet, but my comment was ment to be sarcastic specifically because how “family-friendly” is considered to mean squeaky-clean and wholesome without any potential to aggravate anyone, especially the hysterical moms. As if keeping children absolutely uninformed of the roughness and complexity of life up until they’re supposed to be “adults” at 18 or so does any sort of good to their development. I think we agree there.

In a way, it is family friendly… But not the politicized kind you hear about today. Nope, this is one that actually gives the lowdown on death and ends of cities; since, you know, that’s part of life. Unlike how some fairy tale lands would provide.

Of course a prime example is Ezekiel 23:20; the most 18+ NSFW related Bible Verse with relevancy to this site that I can think of. However, often in the Bible, it was just describing what was happening; like a news report of a car wreck on the interstate.

The absolute state of mainstream Christianity: bringing up cartoons to support their teachings, because they know their kids are more interested in them than the Bible.
