Societies fall, things change it doesn’t matter how Equestria fell. I guarantee you Rome tried to save itself from invaders….they eventually collapsed, same thing happened to Equestria, I mean maybe it wasn’t invaded, but Equestria fell.

TJ really nailed Spike being drawn in the likeness of Rich Evans, here (especially with the receding hairline detail, too).

Poor Tirek, Chryssie and Cozy got robbed I tell ya. If they’d just bidden their time and played things smart, they’d be the rulers of this unraveled Equestria.

Twilight’s just been taking the piss since the synopsis and I’m just loving it.

Appropriate, since DEVO has Chango and Jocko Homo under their belt. DEVO have a dystopian feel to them, and Cardiacs also do, but not in the same way.
 
Cardiacs had a charade where they worked for “the Alphabet Business Concern” and were abused by their bosses (beside how Tim abused the band members on stage in the act.) Tim Smith’s vocals occasionally sounded like just some guy on the street who was genuinely pissed off, like in “Tarred and Feathered.”
 
Oh, and Cardiacs actually got blacklisted in the music industry. They headlined a gig, and the press ignored them but wrote about other bands who played there in the same gig.

Hey, have you ever listened to Cardiacs’ song “Tarred and Feathered” before? It’s a trip; it’s like Madness on an existential panic attack.

Long ago, in the “Simpsons” comic book, there was a story-within-a-story about a villain who fought Radioactive Man in a comic Bart was reading. I can’t recall the exact name of the villain but movies were his theme, and his power was to make duplicates of himself–only each successive duplicate was only half as substantial as the one before. The punchline was that this was just like movie sequels.
 
Any popculture property that is successful will have numerous immediate imitators. And all are embarrassingly bad, shameless money-grabs that are trying to cash in on a perceived fad or public mood, that would not have gotten approval on their own merits. This is equally true of sequels. “Reboots,” too. The 1980s Star Trek films with even numbers are the exceptions that prove the rule, written by people who’d proven their ability to tell more than one good story with a set of characters.
 
G5 may be great but I’m not going to watch any of it unless and until people I know who liked G4 watch it and recommend it to me. I’m not going to get emotionally invested, and I’m not going to be shocked if it flops so badly that it ends some careers, like sequels and reboots so often do.

My, Twilight and Spike sure are married wife and husband and long lived queen and king, sure, they’ll live long enough to see THE FUTURE, known as G5.

See this all too many times with too many things to not have assumptions on how the shows going to go and It doesn’t sound good.

boy howdy they really are gonna fuck up this series hard, welp at least I still have TFH to look forward to as mlp substitution since I can feel that (hard) SJW main cast + Destroying 9 years of story is just a dumpster fire that’s gonna spiral into something possibly worse, it’s like I can’t get a win with G5. I like the designs and look of the movie but it sounds like the story and characters will end up being the weakest part of the film and the show to follow is possibly on a bad time streak based on however this movie ends, dear god it’s all going up in flames isn’t it.

They really just wanted to try and keep what made MLP last for near a decade. That’s really it.
 
Then when the show isn’t received well, I guarantee they’ll have “It’s not for you” articles and tweets. Well, if it’s not, why’d they say it was?
 
They should have just set it in another universe. If the show’s good, it’ll have an audience.

They should have just said it wasn’t in the same universe. No MLP show takes directly after the previous, because it sure sounds like they’re Luke Skywalkering Twilight.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t fully keeping up but hearing the new plot is immensely confusing and worrying at the same time, the original first news I pretty much got on G5 was hard SJW main cast which was a god awful thought but then we get the movie leaks and a decent bit of hope but then the plot drops and dear god if this is connected to G4 that’s an insult to the entire cast. Next to that I almost get the bad feeling that it’s almost gonna be a parrot of G4’s themes but some how worse by spending half or more of it’s first season just (re)uniting pony kind if the movie doesn’t end like that, things have gone back to a dark grey area
