You better bet your ass that I can, bread pony. Takes a length of 18 AWG wire (typically used in the ballast wiring of fluorescent lights, or computerized equipment),fashions it into a whip, and proceeds to slap every loaf of bread in my local grocery stores, waiting for that sudden yelp of pain, even if I get weird looks from other shoppers and store staff

I can find everything I want if I go to the four main grocery stores in town on a rotation, get a little lucky that I hit the right store at the right day, make a couple of brand compromises, and if I modernized my toilet paper holders to hold today’s “mega rolls.”
 
The kenopsia is still first-world-problem depressing, seeing a lot of blank places in shelves, even just the stress to have to strategize like that. Makes you appreciate what we had.

In my area, bread never disappeared but toilet paper (and paper towels) are still missing. Ice cream and orange juice are thin. Frozen foods are super hit-or-miss.

Where I am bread has returned and toilet paper is starting to come back. Oddly, rice in the big 10 and 20 pound bags has vanished, along with flour and most but not all shortening and cooking oil. Margarine has disappeared, but not butter.

I live in a flyover state. The only things that are hard to find here are toilet paper, hand sanitizer and disinfecting/cleaning supplies.

They started implementing limits at my store, though the signs were gone last time I checked. Surprisingly, there’s even still some toilet paper left.
