This is absolutely true. Even if two siblings were going to do it, the likelihood of their children being disabled isn’t really that high. It’s about the same as two people in their 40s-50s having kids.

True. Inbreeding is the only real problem with incest. If you’re not gonna have babies, then there’s technically nothing wrong with having sex with immediate family, provided everyone knows and consents to what they’re doing.
Even first cousins isn’t a problem, so long as it doesn’t continue past that. It’s when multiple generations inbreed that the defects start to pop up.
Also, if you’re not having kids, that’s not an issue at all. It’s just the stigma.
From what I can tell, the general rule of thumb is that fifth cousins or further and you’re fine. Third or fourth is iffy, and first and second is definitely no-go territory.
Well, if you trace back through the lineages of both you and literally any other person on Earth, the two will meet up eventually, so everyone is cousins with everyone else. The same would presumably be true on whatever planet Equestria is a part of.

If we take this illogic to its logical extreme, then having sex with any member of your species becomes incest, as they are so closely related to you genetically that it’s virtually impossible to tell the difference!
