The panels are the same res in both pictures. It’s all up to whether the mods want to keep yours or his.

Several things:  
1: Celestia is a alicorn and so is Luna… How many times have they asked the elements of harmony for help? Many:  
Dealing with nightmare moon  
Discord  
Chrysalis, the one who defeated celestia and imprisoned cadence, also a alicorn.  
Sombra.  
If alicorns were perfect there wouldn’t be a need for apprentices.  
2: Twilight hinted in the second season having a fail safe spell which failed. This seemed to dispel that mary sue stereotype rather well to me. She has problems just like other ponies, being an alicorn doesn’t mean that it’s all going to work out fine.  
3: She’s been the princess’s faithful student since she was a filly and was specially selected for her talents; I knew from that point on that Celestia would make her one eventually.  
4: She’ll still have her adorkable moments, Celestia has that cake thing that was quite funny so I’m no doubt sure that she’ll still have her socially awkward quirks or some unique little obsession (Just like Luna did when she first returned on Nightmare Night).  
So people…

Despite all the love Hasbro has shown bronies this season (and don’t pretend everything that happened this season wasn’t almost exclusively aimed at bronies) this show is still a marketing tool for a toy line aimed at little girls, and little girls want to see Princess Twilight.
 
Am I happy about the decision? Not at all… as someone who watches the show because he loves the characters, I don’t see how giving Twilight wings makes any sense, and I strongly believe that “Alicorn Twilight” is nothing more then a marketing move. Even still, Crystal Ponies were also a marketing move, and the season premier was a great episode.
 
In the end, I trust Studio B to do what’s right by ALL fans of the show, as they have so far. Hay, with luck, “Princess Twilight” will turn out to be a temporary thing. Like, “in the end, I didn’t need to be a princess to…” blah blah blah.
