It’s the ideal number for syndication (at least it was in the past) because if they air a show on weekdays, it would take 13 weeks (1/4th of a year) before they either have to repeat the episodes or switch to another show.

65 is the minimum needed for syndication. After that, they can sell a licence to other channels to air the repeats and get more money from it without any extra work.
