Actually, she was born as a Pegasus with no Crystal Pony ancestry and found by some Earth Ponies as a foal. The only reason she was considered the crystal princess is because she had it in her heart.

What if alicorns aren´t immortal but “only” live a couple thousand years?  
Or that not all alicorns have powers to move planets but only Celestia and Luna cause they´re true royal blood?

Why am I getting a familiar sense that I’ve seen this alicorn Twilight vector posted somewhere on Ponibooru a long time ago?

I think it would be kind of hard to keep doing regular slice-of-life episodes if Twilight was an alicorn, but I don’t know… They could just keep going as usual, except she can fly now.
 
I’m kind of hoping that Twilight’s an alicorn for a single episode where it’s necessary to defeat the Big Evil Whatever Thing, and then she steps down. She’s not ready for that much power, or doesn’t want to leave her friends.
 
Heck, most of the “rules” of alicorns are pure speculation. All we really know is that they can both fly and do magic. It could be a coincidence that all the alicorns we’ve seen have been princesses, and we don’t know just how much more powerful than a regular unicorn they are. Twilight’s already above average anyways.

So just another day in the fandom.

She may have been younger-looking but that doesn’t necessarily mean she was young. Perhaps Alicorns age at the same rate dragons do, thus explaining their immortal or seemingly-immortal existence. Was Cadance young when she was Twilight’s foalsitter? Yes, but that could just be relatively speaking. We know that the ruling Princesses are at LEAST a 1000 years old, but who’s not to say they aren’t 1500? Or 2000? What if they’re 2000 and Cadance is only 1000, thus making her smaller in size and making her just LOOK younger?
 
In the end, my individual fanon is this: all Alicorns are immortal, including Cadance, but she was born after the celestial Princesses. But now this raises the question: will Twilight be immortal, considering she will not be a natural-born Alicorn, if she even becomes one?
 
If all this does come true then it’ll be one crazy ending to this season.

Also, apparently EqD, Ponychan, AND /mlp/ all hate this. Make of that what you will.

Right… i forgot. She was obviously younger when she was Twilights foal sitter. So she was not around when the crystal ponies disappeared.

Not only that, she represent the twilight and the stars. In a some way she is connected with the princesses.  
Else even Trixie (her cutiemark simbolize a special talent in magic as well) could be able to do it.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about after seeing this I think I’m more for it. I think the wings are cute.

Honestly I believe all Alicorns are immortal, because what exactly makes ONLY the Princesses special? Why should THEY be the only ones that are immortal, rather than ALL members of their species? Besides, the Crystal Ponies said that “the Crystal Princess has returned”. “Returned”. Has come back, in paraphrase. Meaning that Cadence is a Princess and has been around since at least before the disappearance of the Empire, meaning she is just as old as Celestia and Luna.

I would think of it not as a level up for unicorns, but for Twilight exclusively, since shes the element of magic and all, thus can’t be achieved by anyone else.

I’ m not against it at all. It was kinda an headcannon of mine that alicorns are rare but quite a bunch. But only the princesses are immortals(?) and have godly powers.  
Cadence kinda confirmed it. I know at the beginning she was not supposed to be an alicorn.  
Twilight would be different, it would be like unicorns can become alicorns levelling up.

This is hilarious.

I saw this posted on Facebook by a Brony page, and at least half the comments were “those” kind of Bronies posting crap like “fck no no mre alcorns!”.
