Oh it’s not that difficult at all. XD Here is how I figure it out.  
In the comics, Sunset dislikes Celestia for not allowing her to see darker magic so she escapes into the mirror world never to be seen again. In one panel, we see Twilight Sparkle playing around by a tree and some other fillies. Thus this took place back in even further before the first episode. The show has been on for 9 years (approximately) each year is about 13 moons thus 13 * 9 is equal to 117 Equestrian Moons.
 
This is supposing their lunar cycle is the same as our moon’s lunar cycle, you’d have to ask Princess Luna for the specifics.

Figure approximately 28 days per moon, or 12 full lunar cycles per year plus a leap-moon every 3 years to account for the difference between moons and contemporary calendar months, and you’re close enough for government work.

On one hand I’m impressed that you can figure how many moons she’s been in the high-school dimension, but on the other I don’t know how to translate moons into earth time…

Hmm, if we base it on the comics it appears she’s at least been in highschool for 117 Equestrian Moons since she went to the this alternate reality when she was as young as Twilight.
