Oh it's not that difficult at all. XD Here is how I figure it out.
In the comics, Sunset dislikes Celestia for not allowing her to see darker magic so she escapes into the mirror world never to be seen again. In one panel, we see Twilight Sparkle playing around by a tree and some other fillies. Thus this took place back in even further before the first episode. The show has been on for 9 years (approximately) each year is about 13 moons thus 13 * 9 is equal to 117 Equestrian Moons.
This is supposing their lunar cycle is the same aseaourth moon's lunar cycle, you'd have to ask Princess Luna for the specifics.
