Musing: both good and bad things only stay for a visit, and move on eventually. I think mindfulness helps a great deal to enjoy the good as much as we can while it’s here, and also to weather the bad.

Why do good things go on for far longer than they were meant to.

I mean, they’re not entirely wrong because when I was a kid watching old Cartoon Network, shows, I never knew when they ended and when it was all reruns afterward because I definitely don’t remember watching the last episode of Dexter’s Lab or Johnny Bravo. So the reruns did made it seem like the show hasn’t ended especially when you don’t follow it everyday or week to watch it all.

Or they just ended at 65 episodes because that was considered the perfect number of episode for syndication. That’s 13 weeks worth of episodes (1/4th of the year) airing on weekdays before they have to repeat or get replaced with another series.
 
The executives at Nickelodeon also believed at the time that if the cartoons had no ending, then kids would just watch the reruns over & over and not realize they were watching reruns and that the series was over. Yeah, they thought that lowly of the kids.

Because the reason why is that many of them get cancelled.

back in the 80s and 90s they never gave cartoons a definitive end.

What I think are the reasons why FiM is ending this year: because the fandom does not want it to be boring, and the staff are following trends.

A. As others said, they don’t want this show to become as boring as the Simpsons.
 
B. Other shows are also ending in 2019, such as Game of Thrones and SvTFOE. It seems like a trend of “out with the old, in with the new” (and TBH, I hate the fact that people end something amusing/beautiful all because of a year number).
 
C. According to the December 2017 leaks, the show’s staff were displeased with Starlight Glimmer, so they wanted to remake the show to make it as “diverse” and “politically correct” feminist as Steven Universe, 2018 She-Ra and the new Powerpuff Girls. As it may involve following another trend on TV shows, it’s like Equestria Girls against Monster High all over again!
