I think a NYCC appearance turned out to be a rumor, unfortunately…  
We could see G5 at the NY Toy Fair in 2020, though! Or the Hascon event, whenever they end up rescheduling the dang thing.  
Regardless, if you check the official toy line ups, we know G4 toys are actually getting several new sets through 2020, and apparently a new toy line for G4 is coming, themed after baby ponies. Plus a bunch of new literature and the G4 live show.

Sadly, no.  
The movie is in fall 2021, so a series would likely come in 2022.  
Worryingly, in the 2017 leaks the 2021 movie was a prequel, but this year, Hasbro changed it to a standalone film. Neither a sequel nor a prequel. It kinda seems like G5 got delayed, to me.  
The good news is that we know MLP is continuing next year, and Hasbro seems to have some web series to make up for the delay. The retro parody, the comics, the stageshow, the manga, etc…  
Plus, Blulder may start working on EQG sometime between now and then.  
So. even if we have to wait, we have good stuff between now and then!!

Generation 5 might come out next year!
