The second part’s a joke. But the whole tgeory about her not being able to fly because of that has been thrown around. I don’t necessarily agree with it.
Doesn’t matter. BE’s whole argument is that they apparently think ponies can’t have foals of other types, and Pound’s a pegasus with (at least) an earth pony mother.

A lot of people also hated that headcanon too though. Not to mention, the books and comics did imply she wasn’t an orphan before long before this episode came out. They (like the episode) more or less explained that her parents are busy with their job so she doesn’t get to see them that often.
