Judging from what I heard, it’s going to be a PG Action-Adventure series with some obvious Star VS the Forces of Evil inspiration, so I’m extremely hopeful.

Discord to me was always a failure as a villain, and one of my least favorite characters. When a villain he’s as non-threatening as you could possibly get, from what I’ve seen in the episodes where he’s supposedly a credible threat, all he ever does is play dumb tricks and outright use mind-control, even when he’s conquered the world, it seems less dangerous and more like a planet-wide annoyance,. Even after he’s reformed, he just takes what I least liked about Pinkie Pie and turns it up to a headache-inducing billion! Still though, that’s more of a personal problem, I like when shows are serious and not ramming a poor (at least so someone like me) sense of humor down my throat.

Discord I’m kinda iffy on, I would agree that he normally doesn’t directly harm anyone, he just likes to mess with ponies. But, we don’t really know how far he went with the whole chaos thing a thousand years ago before he was first turned to stone. And I don’t really like the way he turned on equestria with Tirek.  
Otherwise Discord is pretty okay. :p

King Sombra, Tirek, The Storm King and Chrysalis were not given redemption by the main characters. Discord was debatable, since they turned him to stone and then chose to de-petrify him. As far as I know he didn’t directly harm anyone on purpose outside of the main characters.

Well, the show’d end in Season 6, since Chrysalis would eventualy conquer Equestria in the end of the season without Trixie, Starlight and Discord to help Thorax.

In a story like this, not having all the party members will bite them later. No redemption means no one to save them during the season 6 finale (just one example).
