In an electrical context 746w=1hp, by definition.
50Ah at 5.5V is 275 Watts for one hour. So he can deliver almost a third of a horsepower for an hour, or if you really need to push him, a full horsepower for approximately 21 minutes before tuckering out. Probably not healthy for him to exert himself so much for a prolonged period, though. There… might be fire…

It’s actually just rechargeable batteries in a small box and an integrated circuit to auto-switch current.
