That’s the wrong side. You can see Mount Aris on the left side of the table, meaning the bottom is pointing left.

i imagine there is way more to that map because its taller than it is wide, but maybe they’re just in an age of exploration

Actually, the Peaks of Peril wasn’t located in the Undiscovered West. It was located southeast of the Forbidden Jungle. So I guess there are two Kirin locations on the map. One was the Kirin Grove and the other was the Peaks of Peril.

The Cutie Map is closest at things like continents’ shape, IMHO, just because it is information directly from the show. But these places with Pillars’ relics look like heresy. At least, Mistmane’s location makes me sad.

It was common in the wild wast times and now when the gorvment body give a budget they want you to use every last cent or they will cut it, so what i think happen is that they just put train tracks there just to keep the budget they have and just call it a day.
 
to this day you will still find train tracks in the middel of no where that no one have tought to look for in the wild, like the wood lands, motions and many other areas lots of them got abounded after they fill there role in keeping the budget on paper.
 
2 the loop ring.
 
what i think is that they wanted to build train tracks that loop around the smokey mountains given las pegas is right there and would make logical sesen they wanted to build a rail lane to the city of vanhoover.
 
given that vanhoover is a part city i can see that they wanted easy way and cheaper way to trade goods with each other a common thing in real ife like how the UK and france work side by side to build an underground tunnle to link the two so trade can be easy and fast.

Still doesn’t explain how the heck they got there by train.

There’s literally a place called Kirin Grove below the Dragon’s Lair.

Worse, the in-show map is actually wrong, and there’s a newer version of the official map that puts the Kirin village over near the volcano to the east.

I’m going to say no. I can see where you got this, you’re looking at the top image as though the “top” of the map table is north. I believe, by looking at the coastline and comparing the Perilous Peaks to Mt Ares, that the “top” of the table is West.
 
If that’s right, than the I believe the Perilous Peaks are the sharp looking mountains between the Badlands and the Hayseed Swamp.

I think you may have gotten north and south reversed. Twilight, Fluttershy and Applejack are at the south end of the map – you can see Mount Aris close to them. Mount Aris is on the south-eastern tip of the Equestrian continent, and the Peaks of Peril seem to be directly north of it following the coast, so they’d be close to the eastern coastline and just south of Equestria proper – given that they also seem to be at about the same latitude as the Arimaspi territory, I’d put it on the southern edge of the Forbidden Jungle. Considering that the Peaks were surrounded by a dry savanna-type environment, I’d put them right on the edge with either the desert or the badlands.

Yeah, that seems about right.
