sure it is dude, like a classic case of “show don’t tell”. just saying they’re canon is going to encourage people to start listing all the reasons why they’re not… which will encourage other people to come out with reasons why they are… which will encourage other people still to list reasons why they’re not…
 
if he wants to dodge the question he should take a lesson from jim. that guy hit some zen koan levels of answering in a way that answers nothing:  

Repeating what his employers (Hasbro has contracted IDW) have said is not bait, nor feeding debate.  
“my boss said X, don’t ask me”, is a classic way to dodge stuff.  
Some people are just salty that Hasbro did indeed declare the comics are canon

Anything to do with dragon lore, how required a cutie mark is needed for talents, several lines/situations making EQG unable to have happened until saying it totes did happen, Twilight’s history with friends, Granny Smith’s age, Maud, anything Starswirl, etc.

i know he’s doing his best and all, but giving an answer that’s very contestable is going to inspire the debate he’s sick of. he could absolutely say “hasbro said we are but…” or an outright “i’m not sure anymore”. it’s not going to outright stop it but then at least he’s not encouraging it.

When does the show “constantly contradict itself”? I know occasionally, they forget some details (like Fluttershy is supposed to have crazy sewing skills) but I don’t remember anything major.

he really shouldn’t be feeding the debate if he’s sick of it. repeatedly stating “the comics are canon, hasbro said so” when the show staff won’t go on record either way and the show itself sways between not following comic canon and outright contradicting it is just perpetuating the argument. being sick of an alleged problem when he’s a driving force behind the alleged problem is just… bad form. if price is so sick of the problem he’s free to stop being part of the problem any time he likes.

The comics have sometimes used plot points later episodes ended up having. One such case is how the 2nd major story arc of the comics (my most favorite arc to come from the comics) tackles the idea of Luna still feeling guilty about the Nightmare Moon fiasco, and (literally) has Luna confronting the main source of her guilt, Nightmare Moon itself. Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep takes the concept of that same guilt, but it’s more passive in that guilt’s confrontation.
 
Personally, I felt (and still do feel) that the comics’ 2nd story arc handled that plot point better.

Of course Andy Price would say that, he’s from IDW. The comics aren’t canon.

The show has one yaying season left and we still can’t stop arguing and whining about canon-this and canon-that. Let the writers do their job. Half of us won’t like whatever the result is, anyway, because we don’t know how to be grateful for anything.

Which is…a plot point the Accord arc actually was using before the episode did.

One that comes immediately to mind is how there was an arc in the comics where Discord stops acting chaotic and he transforms into Accord.
 
Later in the show, it turns out that if Discord stops acting chaotic, he fades away. He does not turn into Accord.

That being said, I do actually consider some show episodes to be non-canon due to how lackluster they are.

I just take them as canon until otherwise stated as such. There have been some instances, but for the most part the comics hold up well.
 
An issue here or there is not going to render everything non-canon, just like an inconsistent episode is not going render the show invalid as far as canon is concerned.

@Minus: I for one would like to see how “every single comic has been contradicted by the show” outside of headcanons coming to the wrong conclusions in terms of timeline placement.
 
And even if that were true, like Andy said in the tweet, the show has a tendency to contradict itself. At this point, I wouldn’t be too surprised if some episodes within the show itself end up being “non-canon”.
