The thing is that Spitfire yelled at a filly and even shook it instead of even trying to reason with her.  
She becomes more and more a clown instead of a captain.  
And of course she completely failed to convince Scootaloo.

Spitfires appearance was just cringy.
 
The horrible ending came out of nowhere and just made no sense at all.  
Dusty was already on a great way to redemption without any help of the Mane 6, made great progress and started her own team.  
She was willing to make peace with Dashie, admitted her mistake started to rekindle their friendship and even offered her a spot on her team.  
Then the ridiculous finale undid all this because reasons.
 
That is just beyond horrible storytelling.

Honestly Tirek should not get reformed at all.
 
It would completely ruin his character. Seriously reforming him is like reforming someone like Darkseid from DC or Thanos from Marvel.
 
I mean yea Lightning Dust is arrogant as hell but at least she never did anything evil.
