Seriously though, memes aside, try to avoid this sort of hyperbolic language when talking about things like shipping, kay? Especially when Dustcan was making a damn joke.
 
But yeah, obviously Rarijack isn’t canon (either Rarijack) and never will be, and this episode was about a close female friendship. But Nick is not this naive child that knows not what he does, he certainly does. It is entirely possible to tease a ship without there ever being any intention of making it canon in ANY capacity.
 
And I am certain that the ship teasing was deliberate, and probably done hastily. Why? Because otherwise, nobody would be talking about this episode at all. This is an episode where the main antagonist is an Instagram softcore porn model whose causing jealousy amongst friends. Her main weapon is a fucking MAGIC SMART PHONE. This is the sort of braindead out-of-touch millennial tripe everyone feared would be the norm when EQG was first announced to be a thing, and I’m pretty sure the staff cottoned on to what they created a bit too late to change much… Oh hey, there’s this Rarijack thing that the Intertubez loves! That will make sure this episode ain’t forgotten!
 
I’ll bet you my non-existent farm that “The Other Side”, which is also an episode about a close female friendship (this time with Sci-Twi, Shimmer, and Dash) will not have nearly the same level of pseudo-PDA in it, and it isn’t as if Sci-Sunlight and Twidash shippers won’t be on the look out either. Know why I think this? Because the upcoming special, like the special before, has a premise that is memorable on it’s own without the need for ship teasing.

You guys really have no idea how girls act, huh? The guy just said the “shipping-fuel” was all in the viewer’s eyes. They want to see shipping, so they see shipping, whether it was actually there or not. And thinking this was shipping Rarity and Applejack together is a slap to the face to the actual theme of the show and the message of the episode.

Like stating it would matter to shippers; they invent things from screenshots alone. If Pony!Rarity is straight, there’s no reason to say EQG!Rarity isn’t; that’s just an attempt by shippers to find a “loophole” to exploit.
