I’m aware that she’s not a human, but there isn’t a better term than “humanity”. What I mean is it gives her relateble, believable qualities rather than being an aloof, omniscient Goddess and, in my opinion, is a better character for it.

Adjust what? It’s the entire basis of the plot. Absolutely everything hinges on Starswirl being around at the exact time when Luna began and more importantly after she slipped into NMM, if that doesn’t happen then Celestia never goes to another world and the entire incident just never goes off. I guess you can adjust it to “The comic is a ‘What if Starswirl was a different character and since he wasn’t a grump he didn’t go hard on Stygian so he was still around when Luna went crazy’” but for the main canon it can’t work at all.

True, you shouldn’t care they deleted the story from canon, just like you shouldn’t get upset Accord got deleted in favor of the season 7 episode dealing with the same topic. Just relax, the comics aren’t canon, who cares? If you like it you like it, just because the show chose to go a different route doesn’t mean you should like it more or less. Katie had her own idea about how Celestia used to be, her character and Starswirl’s character, but the show staff had another one, it’s all cool.

It cant be canon to the main show at all, the entire basis of the plot relies on Starswirl, who in this book is likened to Pinkie and most certainly not a grump, being present both immediately before and after Luna became NMM. Without that, there is no portal built, no Celestia seeking an Alt version of Luna, no breakdown where Starswirl gets mad and destroys the portal, simply put thjs story cannot exist with what we know about Starswirl and when he disappeared, he was in Limbo far too early for even the first portal to be built. This isn’t minor stuff, its the entire basis of the plot
 
Shadow Play made it so this couldn’t possibly happen and changed everything fro, design to personality to history for Starswirl, its as non-canon as Accord.

And I’ll say, it can be easily cannon simply because it doesn’t really connect to anything. We know alt. universes exist, so go wild.

I’m quite fond of this piece. Reflections is one of my favorite arcs, regardless of it’s status as canon. It just gives her so much humanity and makes her fallible (before we got the episodes). Im happy to have paid an absurd amount of money for him to draw this for me.

Not Canon :(

I kinda wonder if the show is ever going to do it’s own pseudo-adaptation of this arc like they did for Nightmare Rarity’s arc with “Do Princesses Dream of Electric Sheep” or the Luna micro with the two sisters episode. It’s been completely and totally rendered non-canon thanks to the inclusion of Starswirl and the inability for him to be around to actually do any of the stuff that had to be done to make this arc happen, so there’s an opening for a retelling. Most likely not, show seemed to go out of it’s way to distance itself from this depiction of Starswirl and changed everything about his relationship with the sisters, but it’s possible.
 
Maybe the show will actually show a fight scene and flesh out the frankly bland as all getout Sombra into something more than a cardboard cutout for the author to fangirl over.

I like the pairings where it seems that there will never be an opportunity to happen … it reminds me of the couple of Bigby Wolf and Snow White of the comic Fables (or The wolf among us).  
Although it would be a surprise if Princess Celestia had a relationship with the original King Sombra, although I feel that many would oppose, or maybe not, who knows ….

When was Sombra as tall as Celestia? Anyway, best canon ship.
