I’d argue that it didn’t mean anything back then either considering Don Bluth himself wanted The Secret of Nimh to be PG. I’m guessing the MPAA assumed that since the movie was a cute little cartoon about a mouse, it should be G. The MPAA has been lazy then just has they have been now.
