Headcanon: After a thousand years on the throne, Princess Celestia has become a little…whimsical…about the way she treats the Royal Guard. Assignments like this are actually pretty common whenever she gets in one of her “moods”. The Guard ponies just roll with it, because hey, the pay’s pretty good.
