I’m just going on the logic of Twilight having a horn and gaining wings is a promotion.  
Remember in season 2 when they first fought Discord? He took the wings and horns from four out of the six,  
AJ and Pinkie didn’t have any bits to remove.  
Now if want to argue about if any of three types are more important than the others…  
Unicorns would starve without the food grown by earth ponies, and the earth ponies need the pegasi for optimal growing weather…  
Unicorns free load from the earth ponies and pegasi.  
That being said I look forward to what type of crops Twilight grows in G5!

It’s not like earth ponies are “lower” than unicorns or pegasi.
 
Regardless, the ponies that were drained by Tirek didn’t have the magic of any of the three races, nor did the princesses when they gave their magic to Twilight, so they were all lower than any of the races.

I actually stared at this image for a good minute “this has got to be text edit, but everything looks the same as the other image!” and almost thought it was a dupe, until I finally noticed Twilight was missing her horn.  
….  
Maybe I’m just used to seeing TJPones uploading pictures with ponies missing their horns and cutie marks?
