I will never understand why so many fans love her despite hating her in EqG 1 (there are some fans who love her as both a villainess and a heroine, tho).

while it’s true that Sunset pales in comparison to Glim Glam, you’re underestimating her potential as a villain.
sure, she was never shown as anything more than the typical high school queen bee. but the moment the HuMane Six showed the way of friendship by essentially brainwashing her, DHX killed off all credibility for her character. personality-wise, she’s a lot weaker now than she was then (before her defeat).

that award wouldn’t really go to anybody, though. if it did, it’d go to the townsponies of Ponyville for being complete assholes (first in “Boast Busters” and later “Putting Your Hoof Down” to name some examples). they can get really nasty when they feel like it.
