I couldn’t tell from surface level observation, it was my dad’s girfriend’s dog.
I did check her butt, it wasn’t hard because she was a short haired breed with a stubby tail that sticks straight up. No external sign of inflamation or anything I could point to. She seemed healthy despite being rather fat.
I thought it was worms, but old ladies know everything about their dog, trying to convince them that their could be an unseen problem is futile.
Your dog probably had anal sac disease. When a dog’s anal sacs get clogged up it starts to itch, which is why they begin scooting around the room to try to relieve themselves of the itching.

Not event he point, but if you want to go that rout? there is an extra testosterone producing organ that structurally resembles a testical in our brains, it’s called the anterior pituitary. It primaraly signals with the gonadal endocrine system via gonadotrophs, but its cellular structure and portal viens resemble a testicle, and it tells your ovaries to make testosterone.
