Yup. (Imagine that if you had siblings, they could be called Harry Sullivan, Alistair Gordon, and Josephine Grant. Or Elizabeth Shaw.)
 
Did you know that, as i’m from Italy, i believe my parents did not watch Classic Who (they were born in 1961 for dad and 1964 for mom) and i actually learned about it from TVTropes and became a fan of it trough Dr. Whooves.
 
I actually never watched episodes of it except for some snippets, i usually read forums and other stuff about it. I just prefer it like that, i guess.

Well, since Sarah Jane was originally a Third\Fourth Doctor Companion in the original Doctor Who (6 episodes with the Third Doctor and 13 episodes with the Fourth Doctor), maybe you’re just named after her?
 
 
Or maybe you will meet an IRL Time Lord\Traveller that asks you to be his companion, and after having travelled for a bit, they leave you in the late 60’s\early 70’s, where you become the roommate of someone who works at the BBC, so he decides to name the next Companion after you…

Or maybe they’re counterparts to different companions. Maybe Doctor Whooves’ story is not a complete parallel to Doctor Who, so one pony can be the counterpart to two companions or more.

nope, i still follow by my own hypothesis. it is a “blackmail” date. or a blind date. but not a new companion (lyra is next on the list.)  
he also wore a pear, so i go with blackmail.
