The correct question is, “I wonder how many of the young children who are supposed to be the intended audience would be thrown out of the story by these references?” The answer, I suspect, is somewhere close to zero.

You’d be surprised, I work as an ESL Teacher in Mexico and I found out a seventh grade girl being a fan of The Flash current show.
She explained me in less than 5 minutes the whole FLASHPOINT, the Zoom Paradox and the Crisis On Infinite Earths.
