The first thing that you are ignoring is that Earth Ponies have a hereditary tendency to be stronger and more physically able than unicorns or pegasi.
 
The second thing that you are ignoring is that it has been stated Earth Ponies are born with magic of which allows them to control land better than either of the other two, as is the reason they are more agricultural and as such industrious (Gotta sell them apples and sell them right). The only non-earth pony farmer seen in this show only produced one crop, at a pace and rate in which commercialization was impossible, and had a special talent in growing that one specific crop.
 
The third thing you are ignoring is that not every unicorn is Twilight or Tempest, and aren’t able to do much other than lightshows and weak telepathy. Hell, the unicorn magic of which is relevant to agriculture (Aging) is said to be among the hardest and only alicorns are capable of accomplishing such a feat.
 
There are things unicorns take advantage in (Science, bureaucracy, etc of which comes from their more philosophical origins), there are things that pegasi take advantage in (Military, sport, etc of which comes from their more agile nature), and there are things that earth ponies take advantage in (Agriculture, industry, etc of which comes from their more practical origins).
 
Take one away and the others will wither and die. Otherwise one would’ve completely overtaken the others in the pre-equestrian era.

cool, the earth ponies who spend their entire lives doing something can do something better than those who dont.
 
the point is that there is nothing that a earth pony or Pegasus could do that a unicorn can’t. So what if it is advanced? Applejack has spent her entire life learning to manage her farm, of course she’ll be able to do it better. If you had a unicorn spend that time learning to manage a farm they could probably do it too. there is no physical handicap preventing them from doing that. by contrast, if an earth pony or Pegasus spent their entire life studying magic they would never be able to cast a single spell. ever. they don’t have the capacity.
 
Think about tempest, Her horn was broken as a foal. That essentially makes her an earth pony, except she can still blow shit up with wild shots of magic. as a handicapped unicorn she can still do more than an earth pony. pegasi are aren’t as good as unicorns, but are still better than earth ponies. If you took rainbow dash, or any pegasus, and cut their wings off, they would still be just as capable as any earth pony.
 
TLDR: Earth ponies are shit.

Congratulations, a single pony of whom is close friends with a highly trained unicorn does “advanced” magic.
 
Also earth ponies, alongside their proficiency with agriculture, tend to be architects, engineers, and businessmen (Actual businessmen, not aristocrats) more often than Unicorns and Pegasi.

3D4D replaced Maud and two non-pony characters the original artist added, which is also the reason for the noticeable patchwork edits on the center three characters where there was previously text, the reason Sunset, Rarity and Tempest aren’t tinted compared to the other three, and why the choice of characters or arrangement doesn’t seem to “fit” as some have pointed out.
 

I feel like the some of the colours should be reversed. Fizzlepop is far more attuned to Red than Violet, while Rarity has some minor control over her Orange and Sunset is very Indigo.
 
Twilight is rather more Green, and Trixie Yellow, while Sunburst is definitely more Blue.
 
Which leaves Violet for Starlight, but I don’t really see her fitting there very well, either…

not for a lot of things though. In the season 3 finally rarity can manipulate clouds and weather and she had never done it before. granted she didn’t do it well, but she could still move clouds and such.
 
ANd besides, how is that different form any other special talent? Earth ponies cant all do things like pinkie pie or applejack, But earth ponies would NEVER be able to do magic.

Shoulda used a vector of unicorn Twilight. Using one of alicorn Twilight weakens the image’s context.

Until you consider the fact that for such magic to be worthwhile and useful, intense and highly specialized training is required.

Just because they are all wonderful characters, and you could have a great show with just them, doesn’t mean there aren’t wonderful Earth Ponies and Pegasai too.
 
Being able to pick up things without having to touch them would be pretty cool though.

they really are, think about it. there isn’t anything that the other races can do that the unicorns can’t also do with their magic.
