That maybe so.
I think they wanted more of a contrast between his menacing Pony of Shadows form and his normal form. Having him be so small and scrawny highlights the idea that the darkness really isn’t who he is
lol I didnt spot that but yea the whole shadow pony/Darkness just rang of Kingdom hearts vibes
