Though it had the climactic ending I’d hoped for, it was simply average to me other than that (I’d have liked it better if there had been some cute Fluttershy moments, and most of the songs were average). I also heard the movie was a box office bomb which might contribute to the death of the FiM series.

May not have been the actual movie, but in the pilot episode of G1, Tirek died. So did another G1 villain, Lavan. And here people are thinking the Storm King’s death was uncharacteristically dark, and pouncing on the not-meant-to-be-taken-seriously credits to say he’s still alive.
