Oh, I thought there were “GoF people”.
GoF is Gauntlet of Fire.
And yeah, anything looks feminine next to Torch.
I know that there’s a download for all of the sketches, but I don’t recall where.
Okays, I guess I misunderstood what you said there. I only meant to say the design found its way to the show (I was wrong apparently)
What’s GoF?
Do you have more of her original sketches? I think this is the only one I’ve seen.
I’m not saying it’s obviously female, but it reads feminine to me, especially next to Torch.
I said people are claiming this must have been Ember’s mother, I didn’t say you. If you’re not doing it, I don’t mean you.
I connected the dots. After GoF people were debating whether or not Faust’s sketch was Ember’s mother, now people are debating whether or not the green dragon was Ember’s mother. Then this image got posted with the description “yep.”
As I said before, this adult body type may have been based on the sketch. This wasn’t the only adult dragon sketch Faust made and the others had similar body types. I’m not debating that part.
I’m just saying that this body type hardly new. It is the same body type that has been used for every adult dragon except Torch since season one.
This dragon is far from obviously female, let alone Ember’s mom. That’s all I’m saying.
@QueenCold
I think both are based on that sketch, now that I was reminded of the original green dragon. It was probably the pose in the latest episode that instantly made me think of the Faust sketch. This interpretation just seems closer to the original sketch to me. It also instantly was reading as more feminine than masculine to me - big ass, smaller hands, less square head, compared to maybe-Torch.
There are several differences though, including the head, the “gem” scales, the spikes, the back of the neck connecting to the torso.
>>106801 What is that even from? Is it a screenshot, or just someone made an image?
By the way, I never said it was Ember’s mother (nor did anyone else here as far as I can see), nor did I even think of that until you mentioned it in the comments, so I don’t know why you are trying to prove the opposite to me.

Dead giveaway? The adult dragons as seen in Dragon Shy, Owl’s Well, Dragon Quest, Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep and the one here are all made using the same model that may have been loosely based on the sketch. This green dragon does not have a unique body type.
The picture you posted of the Owl’s Well dragon was from the scene where he was the most off model. This is him in other scenes:

Don’t you think they would give Ember’s mother a more distinct appearance? This dragon was most likely just something they slapped together reusing assets they already had, with very slight changes to the design to make it just a tad different from every other adult dragon we have seen besides Torch. After all, the teenagers are so drastically different from each other that using recolors of the exact same dragon every time they show an adult besides Torch would even make the kids question why most adults look exactly the same.
Without a verification, there’s no real way to tell. We could be seeing a simple narration effect, the modern ponies imagining old dragons as the dragons they know, just like Snowfall Frost looked like Starlight Glimmer. The next most likely possibility is an ancestor; the third most likely possibility is that Torch and the Everfree dragon really are over a thousand years old. Just my two cents.
“The sketch looks nothing like the green dragon, though. “
Look at that neck and arms. It’s a dead giveaway that the dragon from the latest ep is based on that sketch.
The one for Owls’ Well seems to be a bit more loose interpretation (save for she literal spikes) from what pictures I can find.
This dragon doesn’t look related to Ember at all. It doesn’t even look female to me. Just look at it:
Lauren’s sketch definitely looked female and if they went with that design for Ember’s mother, I’d accept it. The sketch doesn’t look like she’d definitely be related to Ember, but could be.
The sketch looks nothing like the green dragon, though. If the green dragon from the story is related to anyone in the show, it’s more likely to be this guy:
Which ones?
not really. the red and green dragon used the same modle
:P
Or his husband. Who say’s dragons can’t be progressive? ;)
The left one decidedly looks feminine to me tho.
