I think you're taking it too seriously. The episode showed overly positive fans can be bad too, and I think the episode was more of a look at the downsides of popularity, rather then just making fun of the fans. (Which they only did a few times looking back at it, and ironically only fans themselves would get the humor out of them.)
Plus, if the writer M.A.Larson can be a good sport about the "Thanks, Larson" memes, and such, (even made fun of himself on Twitter with that) you guys need to get thicker skinned too.
Actually, CR left, because he was angry that Cadance & Shining Armor existed, and decided everything about the show was bad, or too "toy-etic" (while ironically praising other toy commercials like the new Nick TMNT & "How to Train Your Dragon 2") as a result. While CR is entitled to his opinions, (even his rather odd ones) I wouldn't consider him a reliable critic, and such.
He also snubbed me, and hid my comment on DA, when I apologized to him about something...
