Feeling betrayed by her lover for leaving her and returning to his wife, and by Celestia for stripping her of her rank and power, taking away her daughter, and banishing her from her homeland, Love’s heart was filled with bitterness, which lead to anger, and then to hatred. Over the years Love’s hatred towards Celestia slowly corrupted her until her mind, her body, and even her soul became black as pitch. The day her metamorphosis was complete, Love died and from the ashes the first Changelings were born, and Love was reborn as the Queen of the Changelings, Chrysalis.
 
The reason Chrysalis didn’t recognize Cadence as her daughter was because her mind was so warped by darkness that Chrysalis and Love could be considered two completely different ponies.
 
Then again, maybe Chrysalis did recognize Cadence and sought to put her through the hell that Celestia put Love through in order to turn Cadence into a worthy heir to the Hive’s throne…only Faust knows.

I was liking this headcanon, until you used “must of” instead of “must have”, now I don’t know.

Seems plausible…
