I’m not sure if this needs the “suggestive” tag, given that they are wearing clothes you could actually wear at a swimming pool. Does that count as “skimpy”?
In addition to surgery and some personal stuff, my last couple of weeks have been taken up by a project to give my character models more organic seeming variations in their skin/coats, instead of having a perfectly featureless surface.
I’ve also been streamlining and standardizing my character model assembly/rigging process, so I can make more consistent characters with less headache.
There is still some work left to go. I forgot cutie marks, and the contour feathers on Scoots’ wings still look wrong. But here’s my latest test render.

Applebloom could use a bit more work.
Not to be nitpicky, but Applebloom and Scootaloo’s fur are a bit darker than they’re meant to be. I can’t seem to see their Cutie Marks. Sweetie Belle looks like she needs a little more support. And Applebloom’s bangs could use a bit more volume.
But, that’s just me.
Still looking good, though. :)
Yeah, there is more consistency, for better or for worse. I haven’t been able to sculpt my own pony head that is anywhere near as good as the standard one everyone uses, so I’m just using my own modified version of that. The hair however is my own asset, based on some bits of geometry from a couple of daz assets. I guess I did an okay job if it looked like standard pony hair shape? :)
Wasn’t sure. the coloring or shading on the legs and belly made me think it was a really talented painting.
The shape of the head and the hair (Scoots and Bloom’s head and hair to be specific) was where I clued in. I guess the 3D models have a fairly standardized shape compared to hand drawn
What did it appear to be at first? I’d love to think “a photo”, but I know that’s not likely :)
