Receiving praise from strangers is not the same as being smothered by your parents. Moreover, it could be argued that Rainbow’s need of attention from others is the result of her parents celebrating every little thing she’s done.

Is a different type of attention.

There’s a difference between being the center of attention of complete strangers and being the center of attention of your parents.

Getting constant praise for everything you do can sometimes 1) addict you to it and 2) make all of it feel fake.

A.) It just feels lamer when your parents do that past a certain age &  
2.) I bet everyone but Scootaloo would agree that those two are “a bit much”.

But the other pic is from that episode. Besides that Dash wants the attention she deserves and could act both humble or arrogant. Call it inconsistency but to me it shows she’s not simplistic.

She likes a manageable, spread-out source of attention, not the uber concentrated stuff her parents belt out.
