G. M. Borrow originally wanted to name it after the G1 character Creamsicle who was also a Giraffe, but was denied. Though she eventually settled on “Clementine”. This was confirmed on her May 7th Twitter posts about the episode. Since a lot of people were asking her about the giraffe.

Just put a “va” in front of it and it makes sense, but there’s no VA, since she didn’t speak, so it’s just “Gina”.

I’d say she was in the neighborhood when she got sick. Seeing as the regular doctors were uncomfortable with something different, she went to a doctor that’s more familiar with “exotic” patients.
