Cadance and Shining Armor were walking with their two daughters in the city
when Melinda, the younger one, stopped in front of a showcase. Her parents
didn’t notice and continued walking, so did Flurry Heart until a certain
point. She looked back and saw her sister behind so she walked to her.

The two fillies walk for almost an hour, wondering through the city.

Of course both genders can, that’s just obvious. You’d have to be a straight up moron to think that alicornhood would have anything to do with gender. As I said in my earlier comments, it’s a matter of merit, being right for the job, and so on. Starswirl almost became one, but going by what Celestia said he didn’t understand friendship quite as well as Twilight did to earn her wings. Twilight at the very start of the series was like that too, but then she learned the magic of friendship and all the other stuff we saw leading up to MMC.

Yeah, no they aren’t, don’t be ridiculous, they’re just random. Someone of either gender could have any combination of traits, personality, and other stuff, there’s nothing exclusive to one gender or anything like that. Bottom line, people are very clearly individuals, and should not be stereotyped or generalized or whatever you want to call it, based on their gender or anything else irrelevant like that. MLP is a show that very clearly promotes the message that your gender is irrelevant, it’s just not super in your face about that sort of stuff because it’s trying to be an actual good cartoon too.
Anyway, I might or might not go to bed now. I’m tired. This comments section is already super derailed too, so let’s hope this conversation ends sooner rather than later.

That’s total bullshit, and a blatantly offensive and broadly sweeping generalization. They don’t work differently, that’s completely nonsensical to suggest, everyone is their own individual and cannot be stereotyped or generalized by their gender. Gender is totally irrelevant and does not define you or anything, because you’re an individual, and that’s one of the big messages of the show itself, if that’s a good way to word it, you get the idea, I mentioned this stuff in my earlier posts.
Anyway, either gender is equally capable of learning the friendship lessons, and all the other positive lessons/things she could teach. Celestia is more than capable of teaching anyone who’s willing to learn. We only know of like two of her students anyway. Also, didn’t mean to post as background pony, just a habit, but whatever.

No. Shining Armor and Twilight for example are not comparable, their situations that led to their status are very different. It’s been made pretty clear that alicornhood doesn’t just come with the title on a silver platter, though it can be earned by normal ponies. Shining Armor is a prince consort, he married into the title (doesn’t mean he’s not a great leader, he just didn’t get there the same way Twilight did). He’d make a good alicorn, but it doesn’t mean he gets it automatically just because of a title. Again, look at everything Twilight went through to earn hers.
And yes, it is completely nonsensical, the show is a heavy proponent of gender equality. Equestria is gender-egalitarian, de-jure and de-facto, there’s no indication that either gender is advantaged or dominant, and there are no gender roles, and so on. Alicorns can obviously be either gender if the pony is a good, benevolent leader and is right for the job. While it’s not in your face about it, one of the main core messages of the show in general is gender equality, and that your gender does not define or restrict you or anything like that, you get the idea, I’m tired.
Anyway, the first sentence in the image description made their genders clear, but whatever, not everybody reads those I guess. I glanced over it, but not much more than that.

Yeah, no, that’s completely nonsensical and you know it. Alicornhood can be earned, and anyone can potentially do that, regardless of gender or anything else irrelevant like that. And from what we knew up until her reveal, Flurry Heart was a surprise to fans in the first place, since it seemed like they could only be ascended, but apparently they can also be born.
Either way, gender has literally nothing whatsoever to do with it, and either gender could become one, provided they were the right pony for the job; we saw everything it took for Twilight to become one, and that was of course only possible with the help and support of her friends. Starswirl also almost became an alicorn, he just didn’t understand friendship quite like Twilight, which Celestia mentioned.
Also, pretty sure both of the ponies in this picture are in fact female.
