She might just mean she’s new to the way Ponyville wraps up winter.  
I also don’t always consider song lyrics canon since they’re written by someone separate from the writing team.

It should be pointed out that one of Twilight’s lines in “Winter Wrap-Up” (not sure if the title song or one of the others) includes “I’m new, you see” so I figure that should be early in the year between Nightmare Moon and Discord.

I remember when I placed all the “Four Swords” games in the same timeline as “A Link to the Past” due to graphics from ALttP being re-used in “Four Swords Adventures”
 
Which then makes “Hyrule Historia” weird because FSA’s in the Child Timeline (and set after “Twilight Princess” to boot! WTF, Nintendo?) while ALttP and the relevant games (OoX, LA, LoZ, AoL) are shunted to a surprise third timeline.
