Interesting theory, and it certainly applied that time, but I think the personal space issue is more likely here.
This was the only especially negative face she made during the whole ‘tell us a tale, spike the hero’ sequence.
(at least im pretty sure)

If I recall, in this scene the crystal ponies were fawning over Spike. Judging from Starlight’s behavior in “To Where and Back Again”, she’s rather put off by hero-worship.

I noticed this too. I’m not sure whether the apparent violation of her personal space or the gesture itself that bothered her.
