That was debated, but right now the plan is to swap in the next featured image in about fifteen hours from now, at the normal time.
 
Ironically, the next featured image is going to be an OC as well :D

I was thinking in the same thing, maybe for a week this image could stay. I mean, if we consider how much effort this image was for everyone and that is for the 5th Derpibooru anniversary, I think it worth.

Will this image stay up as a featured image for three more days, or will another image take it’s place today? I think it should stay up extra long because it’s a special image.

Oh, don’t be sorry. I use mechanical pencils nowadays too. One with HB leads, and one with light blue leads.
 
As for today, I use the HB (black) ones for doing pre-sketches on disposable paper, and the light blue one for the actual sketches before I ink them.
 
But you can pre-sketch in light blue and then “finish” the piece with the black pencil too.

Checked your uploads, laddie, not bad for a new aspiring illustrator. I’d just recommendusing a harder pencil (HB if not H) or a very light blue one to sketch with basic shapes first, and then your regular black pencil.
 
An advice I give to people that’s new with ponies is to use tracing paper on official drawings, and draw the circles and rectangles that make a pony’s body. Eventually you’ll internalize them and you’ll do them on your own.
