I guess there’s no technical different, only a difference on intent.
If a shirt is of a certain length, it’ll be seen as a dress. I would consider that threshold to be a little shorter if there’s a distinct skirt on it.

Parallel worlds: It’s a matter a perspective. You could say with equal validity that Equestria has horses reminiscent of humans, and there’s stronger evidence for that view.
I just want to watch Sweetie Belle play any sport, as I would imagine her being the least athletic out of the three.
I went for a ‘90s sports video game joke, so at least everyone is consistent with the decade we’re stuck in.
Seeing the CMC here makes me think there’s room for an interesting pro/am or college/pro team sports concept, where the pros are playing with reduced numbers against an amateur team with increased numbers; like, three NBA stars against a six person college basketball team, or an NHL team playing under a permanent box penalty while an amateur team gets an extra skater.
