Them being more strict with the content of the episode might have had something to do with the plan to have it serve as a back-door pilot to a spinoff series featuring the CMC aimed at an even younger audience.
@nuclear brony
That was in a season 5 episode. And given season 2 had the aforementioned Big Lebowski ponies on top of the scene in Lesson Zero where Fluttershy seemingly snapped a bear’s neck, I think it’s safe to assume that the censors greatly loosened up after season 1. The only major complaint from that season was the controversial moral in Feeling Pinkie Keen.
To be fair, that was much, much later and the execs were more comfortable with it.

Funny, I thought most of Call of Duty’s audience was 12 year olds…
This is the same show that went on to reference The Shining’s elevator-blood scene.
And yet just one season later they had Big Lebowski ponies…
Ah, right.
She was originally supposed to belch after drinking the punch, similar to Barney Gumble, but the censors saw the implications and objected to it.
In fact the censors seemed to be unusually hard on the episode compared to the others in the season since Meghan originally wanted to title it Call of Cutie but the censors said no because at the time they didn’t want any references to stuff that was explicitly aimed at adults.
Wasn’t there a deleted scene that showed Berry spiking the punch?
