I have always thought the royal guard job was basically a useless job made specifically for stallions. Like, they are so rarely useful or needed, mostly just used as living decoration. But it’s a job so easy even a colt can do it. Save the real jobs for the superior mares.
 
That comment didn’t start off sexist, but now I can’t think of it as anything but a super sexist thing. People thought there were not many stallions in the show for a long time, but they’ve been there all along, as ornaments for the princesses. Just as we see rich men IRL covered in women.
 
I’m probably late to this realisation. All in all my point is that there are no female guards because not one filly wanted to be a guard. The Wonderbolts are much closer to an actual defensive force from what we’ve seen. Shame they’re pegasus exclusive.
 
Angel Wings does look good in that outfit though.

Yeah I hope that she isn’t the first. It always made more sense to me that there would be some females in there. We just haven’t seen them yet because of the reason you stated.
 
And apparently she deleted this tweet cause I don’t see it anywhere on her twitter. Did her tweet cause that much of a shitstorm?

Or one where they try to pick a worthy replacement for Shining Armor in the Canterlot Guards captain position.  
There should be bitter competition in that.
