Perhaps reusable diapers would be the thing you are looking for?  
I’ve never used them*, though from what I heard, they are poofy, thick, and if used with plastic pants, they don’t start leaking very quickly
 
*unless you count that time when I was actually a little kid

They are, kinda.  
And yeah. They would leak quite often, especially given that A. I’m kind of a heavy wetter most of the time, and B. I tend to sit in my soggy pamps for a looong time. Often until leaking.
