Is this comic book chronology set before season 6 or during the first six episodes of season 6 because Fire Streak is still a Wonderbolt before retiring and the changelings still loyal to Queen Chrysalis before being loyal to Thorax? Despite the comic book released after season 6?

This cover makes it seem. But it is uncertain whether in this story we will see the real Nightmare Moon, or whether it will just Chrysalis or one of its changeling under false appearance.

If Nightmare Moon is not Chrysalis, I wonder in which way? Will Luna get taken by her again?
Or is it the pony of shadows in the castle that will form a new Nightmare Moon?
Perhaps it is Chrysalis that will do something at Princess Luna for transform her again. Perhaps the return of Nightmare Moon is part of the evil plan that Chrysalis has come up in this comic.
Seems like a terrible plan honestly; we saw how stupid it was for a villain to turn luna into NMM and expect them to not kick the crap out of them when pinkie did that in the LAST comic.
Not that I wouldn’t enjoy a villain civil war of NMM and her forces vs. Chrysalis’s :p (if only for the fact that Luna would probably come off as the lighter shade of black), but I can’t see those two working together well honestly.
 
Technically, Pinkie Pie was still an amateur as a villain, and she didn’t have a specific plan when she changed back Princess Luna into Nightmare Moon. Chrysalis instead has had plenty of time to plan it. And if bring back the real Nightmare Moon is part of the evil plan of Chrysalis, she will have thought about what to offer to her for create an evil alliance. Anyway, Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon could also try to exploit and betray each other when they will think of don’t have needs anymore of the other.

If this cover is a taste of what to expect, then Nightmare Moon is coming back? Interesting.
Cheeze Sandwich and Pinkie were both name-dropped on the first page, and they are on the cover. I’m certain they will show up in the first story with their party canons.
Indeed Nightmare Moon and Spikezilla are the two things that intrigue me most about this story.
Nightmare Moon is the only thing that intrigues me.
 
Everyone all Excited for Nightmare moon; just look at the shadowbolts, they were just changelings taking on different forms to screw with a pony, I am pretty much 99% sure Nightmare moon will be the same thing, with chryssy taking on NMM’s form to try and play mind games with Celestia.

It means that Hasbro is keeping their options for potentially turning GoH into a show/movie fully open. They likely already registered it so that, if the comics go over well, they can move ahead with making a show/movie without having to first wait for the service mark to be registered.
It’s not uncommon for a media group to do this for every IP they create, not only so they have their options open, but also to prevent other companies from claiming a particular name before they can.
 
The thing is, There’s nothing really to differentiate it as a series so far; this has just as much fighting and conflict in this issue as your normal MLP:FIM comic. Dash doesn’t defeat the changelings any differently from how they’d be defeated in a normal comic, its still pretty tame/normal.
 
 
Like, I’m just saying it’d be hard to justify a new series if they don’t differentiate it at all; EQG has its own style and purpose for example, which makes it being a different series make sense, but this is the same world canon, the same characters and the same level of violence and flavor as FIM.
 
Unless they introduce a new group of side characters to focus GOH on, or jump into an alternate reality or SOMETHING, this really has no reason to exist as a different series from FIM, at least in comic or TV form.
 
 
Not saying I don’t like this, this was a GOOD comic, and I love the art, just its not different from FIM is all.
