Wow. I missed that this was actually a cart. It looked like just a pile of wood to me, so I thought it seemed kinda ridiculous that Derpy won.

I usually really like Derpy.

Looking at this, and taking into account that Rarity makes a claim of learning the lesson of ‘know your audience’ after the flashback… I think it’s obvious why derpy won - the judge was biased towards technical creativity rather than aesthetic. And by that measure Derpy wins with her front wheels on independent and likely quite springy arms plus the fact that those front wheels being unsteerable means the whole thing must be rear wheel steered… It probably drives terribly but is still far more creative in a technical sense than Rarity’s very pretty box on wheels.

in all honesty, i would take no issue whatsoever with losing to derpy. she’s just too likeable to resent. i mean, how often does she even get breaks like this in her life?
